Lets Talk About Your Underwear!

I am going to talk about a massive pet peeve of mine, and that is women and their under garments, more specifically underpants!  There seems to be an apparent lack of thought as to why we need specific types of under garments and how wearing the right one’s are meant to make everything look better, so your outfit is the spotlight not your crazy panty line’s!  Good under garment fundamentals will take the guess work out of what to put under what. Let me start with good high waisted underpants that go all the way up to your natural waistline that’s where they are supposed to go. You can get them in high cut which is great if the tops of your thighs are bigger, the high cut keeps it from chafing when you walk and sit.  Full cut high waisted underpants are the way to go under a dress or skirt or light-colored pants, especially knits because you will have a nice smooth line from the outside and if you’re wearing high waisted you will not have a bulge between the top of the underwear and where the waistline of the garment hits. If you are wearing a knit, make sure the underpants are made of a silky fabric or they will grab on to each other and cause your skirt or dress to ride up. Buying the right size is also very important, measure yourself before your next shopping trip you will need your hip measurement this is what you will find on the size guide attached to the underwear, if you’re wearing the wrong size you will not be happy, to small they will dig in and make you super uncomfortable and create the bulge we talked about or to big you will have a wedgie all day.  Strangely a lot of younger girls think full cut panties are for old ladies and that a thong or bikinis can be worn under everything, well it can’t. A thong or a bikini gives no support to your behind they also cannot hide a flabby backside or any dimpling you may have. I have seen it so many times a girl in a beautiful dress who didn’t bother to look at the rear few of herself and ruin a completely lovely outfit. Now if you’re in a skin tight red-carpet gown you may need a thong, or some perfect fitting shape wear but your backside should also be in great shape to even be pulling that dress off. A seamless boy cut style underpant is also a good option under a looser fitting or full skirt, just make sure they are not low riders, or you may still see where they end, and your skin begins.  There is also the option of shape wear to keep things from jiggling around and give a nice smooth line but for goodness sakes size up! I won’t ever begin to understand the sizing of these things and the pain they cause you should be able to breath and eat when wearing these! Try to own at least one pair of high waisted underpants that match your skin color these will save you in many situations when you need to look super polished, you can google some companies out there, TruNude is a company that has an app, you take a picture of your skin tone and they will match your undergarments to you!  Fantastic idea.

When to wear bikinis and thongs? Under your jeans, pants or shorts made with a little thicker fabric, if you are wearing a thong or bikini, before you leave the house do some reaching, bending and squatting, you will see what everyone else see’s. Some girls like a thong under their workout cloths but that’s a personal preference, seamless bikinis like the ones Under Armor makes work nicely.  And if you happen to find a dream pair of underwear go back and buy more, I think it’s tricky to find the perfect pair, good luck and don’t forget to check the rear view!
